Color Grade For Download July 23, 2009

Posted by William J. Meyer in Jack's Extras, Jack's Post-Production.

I am a color grading beginner, but it is an aspect of filmmaking I find fascinating. This project was my first serious exposure to the craft. I’ve just uploaded a color grade to Coloruser, a great resource for users of Apple’s color grading software aptly called…Color.

Other than sharing grades, members also discuss related grading and correction topics in the forums such as art and workflow.

“Secrets” is a grade used in The House That Jack Built to express despair.

In the Primaries I used violet shadows, cyan midtones, and purply highlights. In the Secondaries I used blue midtones, violet highlights, and removed some blue from the highlights to try and preserve bright whites.
