352.88 Gigs and Whaddya Got? March 4, 2008

Posted by William J. Meyer in Jack's Post-Production.

Yesterday I digitized the last of The House That Jack Built. All thirteen tapes (sans auditions and location scouting). My message to the freeworld: digitizing sucks. Since it took me twice real-time, and there are 13 one hour tapes, I spent over a full day of my life logging and capturing footage for this film. Crazy.

The OS X finder tells me there are 838 files of video. That doesn’t quite equal the shot count since there are, of course, multiple takes. However, each file might represent anywhere from one shot to six (due to cutting back to the same set-up). I wonder if Final Cut has a feature to tell me how many edit points there are, and so give me a realistic shot count? Just curious.
